Idle role playing game Knight Story is launching on the Tron blockchain this week. The Tron Foundation revealed these plans on Twitter, and announced a free digital gift to those who pre-register. The mobile game will introduce three new knights exclusive to Tron. Their names are Terry, Robin and Xenia, in reference to Tron's native token TRX.
Knight Story is already available for Android and iOS devices. Currently the game is running only on the Ethereum blockchain. In the game players can obtain resources, create weapons and armor, and sell these on a public marketplace. Game studio Biscuit Labs makes money from selling in-game currencies, including tokens required to export items and sell them on the marketplace.
In Knight Story players need to make their knights stronger to defeat waves of enemies. Since this week the game also introduced a boss mechanic, in which players need to help each other to defeat a very strong enemy. Not all items are on the blockchain. Players can move items to the blockchain by buying and using a special token.
On a weekly basis there's approximately 20 to 25 ETH worth of trading volume in Knight Story's digital items. That means there's at least 2500 dollars of trade, with an average price of 0.03 ETH per trade. Currently there are over five thousand users trading their digital items from Knight Story on the public marketplace.
Tron not hot on gaming yet
The Tron blockchain will add a whole bunch of new potential users to Knight Story. According to TronScan there are almost 5 million wallets, doing at least 1.2 million transactions per day. However, it remains to be seen how many people will jump into the blockchain game.
According to DappRadar the most popular decentralized apps on the Tron blockchain are gambling apps. These apps are responsible for the majority of trading volume and transactions. According to the data from DappRadar these app have a combined trading volume of over 2.5 million dollars per day.
Gamers spend the most on gaming dapps like CryptoTree and CatPromotion. Both these games barely provide any gameplay. Blockchain Cuties is the 24th most popular real gaming dapp in terms of trading volume. The word popular is relative, because the 193 users only created 44 dollars in volume.
