Note: the following is my opinion on the current state of crypto. Will update this with more sources, facts etc... in the near future
Hi guys, sorry for the late post. I have been busy with work lately and was also spending time to catch up on the major highlights of Bitcoin Amsterdam 2022(was supposed to be there but could not make it due to work and other commitments etc...)
After looking at most of the major panelists, I got to say that I'm disappointed with the behavior of some of the speakers. Shall not name and shame but one common "theme" that I noticed is that a few die hard Bitcoin maxis liberally repeat the term "shitcoin" on any other projects than Bitcoin. I even remember that someone from a 3 person panel about Maximalism even labelled Ethereum with that "degrading" term even though till date, Ethereum has more practical use cases than Bitcoin. (most of the major Defi, NFTs, Web 3.0 and Metaverse platforms are currently developed on the ERC-20 network)
Before those keyboard warrior maxis come at me, Yes. I do understand that the main agenda of any Bitcoin Conference is to understand, promote, celebrate and share about Bitcoin on a public event. Yes, I also know that the Bitcoin community is a huge, decentralized community with lots of different people, sub-cultures and opinions etc...
And finally, yes I do understand that over 90% of the 1000s of cryptos available in the market will either die off, are scams or are even 'ghost chains' which no one uses.
However, that does not give anyone the excuse to just simply insult, trash, negatively comment about any other altcoins including Ethereum that has several genuine use cases.
As the crypto community develops and advances, one can expect to have more complex projects and altcoins, complications, and even problems. However, regardless of which crypto projects one supports, we must remember to unite against our common enemy which is the current dystopian financial system operated by the fiat system
Its no coincidence that when this current bear market has started, it not only saw major governments around the world announcing new regulation or enforcing pre-existing regulation for crypto, it also revealed the dark sides of crypto eg. rehypothecation(Terra Luna, Celcius and other major Cefi platforms), scams, network outages(Solana), and even rumours of some attempts by Bitcoin maxis to get rid of crypto market competition via regulation.
When I have started my crypto journey 4 years ago, I perhaps naively thought that it would be as simple as me joining the "decentralisation and permission less and censorship resistance movement" but during that 4 years, I noticed infighting, missed opportunities and funny business happening almost in tandem with whatever milestones accomplishments and success stories that shaped the industry.
My call for a greater crypto unity could not have come a a better time and I wish for this vibrant flourishing economy of the future to continue to succeed
