In the past week or so I've noticed something that I find truly shocking or at least quite disturbing to see:
Many people are holding their bitcoin in custodial accounts without even being aware of it!
It truly is time to educate the world, starting with hammering in the following words:
Not your key, not your Bitcoin!
If you don't have the private key to your wallet, the bitcoins aren't yours. Very often people hold their coins on an exchange. The exchange is holding the coins for you, but if something goes wrong, like exchanges being hacked, there is nothing you can do about it.
Please check if you hold the private key. If not, get yourself another wallet that does give you that key!
