It took all afternoon and part of the evening, but I finally received my Bitconnect Coins in my HitBTC wallet. I immediately exchanged them for Bitcoin and got the equivalent of about $10. A couple of days ago, they were worth about $340.
Maybe it was this tweet I sent that moved things along faster.
I'd rather they had sent the Bitcoin.
While my wait was annoying, many other people are much worse off. Before the r/Bitconnect subReddit was closed to the public earlier today, some redditors left messages like these, which @francispouliot_ captured and tweeted out.
It dumbfounds me why anyone would risk their entire life savings, or mortgage their house, on a single, risky investment. But I can't help but be saddened by the lives ruined by Bitconnect and the people shilling for it, many of whom are carefully scrubbing their YouTube and social media accounts of any mentions of Bitconnect hucksterism. Those promoters made millions, and one even won a car, while thousands of others are probably broke now.
