Wow, this was an amazing experience last evening when I hosted a cryptocurrency and blockchain meet up in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was an amazing response despite the fact that I announced the event on Facebook barely 48 hours before. The meet up went on for 2 hours at which point we decided to continue another time, even though no one was willing to get up but I got the feeling the cafe wasn't too happy ;) Still then a couple of people stayed and talked further for a half hour. We were way too excited to have anything else in our mind!
I already had an idea that people here are very, very interested in this upcoming revolution, and not just from the investing point of view. We had healthy discussions ranging from buying and getting into crypto, to mining, to new technologies and more.
There was interest in which wallets to use to keep your crypto safe. One of the participants already had a Ledger hardware wallet about which he shared information. The great thing about last evening was that those who already were into cryptocurrency shared their insights and knowledge. There was someone who shared their experience in cloud mining (both positive and negative) and we discussed how the future is away from Proof of Work into probably DPOS.
You can see the brochure I distributed amongst everyone. It has the blocktivity image about which blockchains actually are active, and how Bitshares compares to the popular crypto like Bitcoin and Ethereum which people hear about when they first learn crypto. This sparked a lot of interest in Bitshares, especially once they learned they could convert their holding to smartcoins like bitUSD in a few seconds! I also told everyone how STEEM is a social network / blogging platform entirely on the blockchain which pays its users for blogging and curation. The energy was amazing, I learned a lot and my mind is abuzz with ideas for more meet ups and even seminars. All of this couldn't have been possible without Ken! Thanks man!
I think I'm hooked. Everyone was happy and couldn't wait to get to our next meet up which we decided we'll have again soon :)
