Ethereum to the Rescue
One of the best parts about cryptocurrency is the revolution that is being brought to all different sectors and industries, and behind these revolutionary projects are revolutionary minds. Minds that think 10 to 20 years ahead of current demand and identify where markets and technological developments are progressing towards. One of these progressives is Vitalik Buterin who believes that in the future humans will be able to synthetically reduce the natural degradation caused by ageing in human biology.
Buterin has donate $2.4 million of Ethereum to a public research charity call SENS, who is creating a new market for regenerative treatments. The charity has already received $5 million overall with another $2 million of it being donated by an anonymous fund through the Pineapple Foundation. The Group was founded with the vision of revolutionizing the healthcare industry by providing solutions to the root cause of age related diseases rather than their symptoms. It provides funding to Universities to develop such regenerative treatments, and also it's own research lab.
The Groups founder Aubrey Grey was of great influence to a young Vitalik after reading his books on the matter, and now the cryptocurrency entrepreneur feels like he wants to benefit the cause. Grey has stated that he intends to use the research and funding for the betterment of humanity, and increase life expectancy while reducing ailments using revolutionary biotechnologies, that could potentially be enhanced in terms of capability by blockchain technologies. Such technologies are theorized to be able to as a result of extensive research repair, reverse or remove cellular and molecular damage caused by ageing, and help to enhance the longevity and quality of later life when the body start to biologically degrade.
Their own Research Center in Mountain View California is quintessential to their research and serves as a head quarters for their operations. The majority of their revolutionary research is conducted here, and results from University funded research applied and tested here too. This company is promising a better future for medicine and society, as it would reduce burdens on the medical system and peoples lives in ageing making for a more effective elderly healthcare solution than currently devised. Such donations directly from Ethereum founder may seem to some like a strategic move as a way of encouraging blockchain implementation, but it may just be a publicity move for Ethereum and an honest contribution to scientific research.
