Nice post and very interesting ideas. I was at a conference last year when something similar was brought up by an academic colleague regarding the #REDD initiative and how blockchain could facilitate its implementation (the following is from one of his slides):
REDD+ BC = decentralisation?
●Microplot ownership registered on BC
●Satellite technology and AI calculates baseline and ensures additionality
●IoT sensors and satellite technology for monitoring, reporting and verification
●BC for direct payments (including consumer payments)
Interesting, eh? #FairTrade also gave a presentation showing how they are exploring DLTs to do exactly as you suggest.
