If you are still not convinced with Musicoin, come read this! Blockchain is the future of the MUSIC industry!
So this past year I've been experiencing with both platforms and let me tell you this, Spotify has been mostly a major dissapointment. Why? Because you don't know what is happening, you don't know who listens to your music, you don't know if they liked it or not, you basically don't know anything, aside from the fact that you can see some stats on spotify for artists.
I was very excited last year when I was finally able to release something on spotify, not because of the possibility of earning money, it was because I thought it was going to be a big into getting my music heard all over the world and connect with people. But of course that didn't happen as expected. For a while I thought I was making something wrong, not promoting enough. But the truth is that most of the people who uses spotify are looking to listen to music they know and that's it, famous artists, I'm not saying that this is wrong, but not particularly the kind of audience indie artists are looking for right? I know maybe some of this people are willing to find new music but how can we connect with them if our profile is in a deep hole because it does not have enough plays? You have to be lucky to get into big playlists, submit here and there, try being in playlist where famous artists are so you get more exposure? To me it feels like trying to get signed by a label, it may happen some day, but it may not happen ever.
I'm not even gonna extend too much on the income from Spotify because we all know that it is very low plus we don't even know if we are getting what we are supposed to be getting. To make this simple to understand, my profile on spotify has reached 50,000 plays and they did not come alone, I worked very hard to promote it and get people to listen to my music, got into some playlist and whatever, you would think that's a hell lot right? This got me about 35 dollars so far. Do I need to say more?
Of course my days brightened when Musicoin showed up, I was a bit sceptical at first but when I started experiencing the platform it changed everything.
This platform not only pays you much more than any other platform around, it also has a great enviroment. You can comment on tracks, you can tip the tracks you like, you can follow artists and they would know about it! You can connect in every way with the artists you are listening to and show them the love they deserve for making such amazing music!
One of the most amazing features this platform has, is the possibility to split payments between all members of a band or if you are making a collab with someone you can split the payment too, that's amazing!
This is all possible thanks to implementation of the blockchain technology has the potential to change the way almost anything is bought and sold online INCLUDING MUSIC, making it much fairer for everyone!
The Musicoin blockchain is a fork of the Ethereum blockchain, specifically modified for music consumption. It is capable of executing smart contracts in a Turing-complete language and acts as a foundation for future layers of musical applications to be built on top of the Musicoin blockchain.
Musicoin also has a FORUM where you can find a lot of information about the platform. You can post, ask questions, join contests, get support, etc. It's awesome!
What's most important here, is that every artist gets paid without intermediaries, as soon as someone hits play, you instantly get one musicoin which right now is worth $0,012, which may seem like a low number, but it is way higher than on spotify.
As I said before, 50,000 plays got me 35 dollars. Right now that same amount of plays on musicoin can get me 600 dollars...notice the difference?
This is just my opinion from my experience using both platforms and the reason why The X Reposts started, to help indie artists to find the best way to share their music!
