Well for anyone who read my Reflections on a first week post you will remember I set myself 2 goals for this week.
- Get a UA score higher than 0.000
- Have a post organically break the $1.00 mark
Thanks to all you awesome readers, I broke $1.00 on that post in under 8 hours!!!! It closed at $1.79 which is my highest (non-bought) post EVER!!!! So thank you again everyone. That was an awesome feeling.
However, I did fail to meet my primary goal. That damn 0.000 still taunts me

I'm beginning to worry if its broken. Hear me out on this.According to steamworld.org at time of writing this there are 1,135,900 accounts created. My account i 1,121,495. My UA rank as you can see in the above screenshot is 1 number higher than my user ID. Now that is the same rank number that is in last weeks screenshot in my other post. In fact, its the same rank that I have had since I first looked at my UA score 13 days ago.
So, my rank has not changed in the 14 days I have been on this platform. BUT there have been 14,405 new accounts created in that time (over 1,000 new accounts a day , nice growth steem). It seems highly unlikely from a probability viewpoint that not one of those 14,000+ accounts has gained ANY UA score and thus would have passed me, lowering my rank. I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps UA is not taking into all existing accounts or something like that. Yep, I'm grasping at straws here folks, but I really don't understand why I can't move that score even 0.001. I have decent engagement, have posted a couple times a day this week, commented on, been commented on, increased my followers with a few witnesses (thanks to everyone who followed me in the last week btw) and still nothing.
At this point, I am going to close my eyes on the UA-score and hope I can simply over-ride my OCD on that (anyone with OCD already knows how this will turn out).
So that is my big disappointment for week 2. I failed in the goal I set myself. Earth-shattering? Nope, Life changing? Nope. Simply disappointing as I am a goal driven individual who rarely fails at goals given to me, nevermind those I set myself.
On to the rest of the week.
Following all the helpful advice I receive from people in #helpie and #themesopotamians discord channels I worked this week on putting out more content (you'll notice a lot more "opinion" pieces this week) as well engagement through comments on my posts and commenting on other peoples.
Boy this takes a lot of time, I applaud those of you who make 20-30 posts a week and do over 200 comments a week. That is a LOT of work. I see now why so many people simply do the bot curation trail and do upvotes that way. You guys who manually curate and comment on that many posts/comments are true hardcore soldiers of the platform and I salute you!!
Following the above advice might have taken a lot more time but it WORKED!!!! As I mentioned in my UA-score rant above, I have added quite a few followers this week, including some "high-level" well respected in communities folks and even a couple of witnesses for the week. AWESOME!!!!!
I again participated in the @helpie Monday Night Hangout, which of course had the topic of the borked HF20 and how the "fix" was proceeding. So that was great to get information from people in the know and not have to panic about what was happening.
There was also a portion of the program dedicated to raising funds for a program called Dollar A Day. You can contact @pennsif for more informtion or hopefully he will leave a comment here (hint hint) and give a give a few more details on this awesome program he runs. In a nutshell, he is asking for steem users to donate 1 SBD a day (or every few days, or whenever) and he keeps a list of vetted programs that he supports. Once he has collected enough funds to make a difference he sends them off to the people in various (empoverished) countries so they can be distributed as needed. He spoke of one program that provided shoes for children, another was able to upgrade the science classroom of a school from 4 thermometers (yep that was the entire science class) to multiple pieces of equipment that would enable the teacher there to actually teach science.
The one project he spoke of that pulled at a lot of people's heartstrings was a recent one ( @pennsif you mentioned pics, either drop a couple in comments, or leave a link please) was an outing in Venezuela. A bunch of children were taken to the cinema/movies for the first time ever. Afterwards they were treated to pizza, again for the first time ever. And all of that was accomplished by donations from Steemians who gave to @pennsif and his initiative.
If you would like to watch the replay of this hangout and get more accurate info rather than my muddled recap above, you can find it here: Monday Night Hangout
To end this weeks recap on a personal high, I woke up this morning to find I had a mention from a user named @holm. This is one of those people I mentioned earlier with whom I had engaged with a couple times in comments. Well apparently it paid off. He made a post called Let's spread the love a little... where he actually gifted me 1 SBI and not despite my newbishness but BECAUSE of it.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!
Now that's a good feeling right there, to be rewarded for my newbishness, my lack of knowledge and stuff. Apparently I bumbled and stumbled in just the right direction and bumped into an awesome (yes I use those word a lot) user. Thanks again @holm. It is MUCH appreciated.
Well that's it for my week 2 recap. Over all a very good week again and I continue to make progress on my journey here. My posts are getting a little more attention each week and earnings are around $0.30 to $0.50 cents organically now and hopefully will continue to grow. I continue to engage as I can (difficult for an introvertred personality such as myself) and can see the results of that in the number and quality of followers I am getting and I am meeting some great people each week such as @holm and many others. I'm probably older than 90% of them but feel like they are my big brothers/sisters as they continue to help and mentor me each week along the Steemian path.
As for that which will not be named score, we will see how the week goes.
One final thought, and hopefully someone can clarify, confirm or deny. I read a post a couple days ago (can't find it again to link here) that stated in order to get a follow link your post needs to exceed $10 value at time of closing (the 7 day payout window). Can anyone confirm this? I had hoped to gain some backlinks for my blog when I post articles from it here, but $10 is not going to happen unless I use bots. I'm really hoping someone can tell me that was old, outdated information of something.
Thanks for reading and for those of you know who follow and talk to me weekly, I look forward to hearing from you again this following week.
