There are places people go to die. Most people will never live there. They will say "oh if you just tried a little you wouldn't have to be in a place like that". They would be incorrect. Any one of us could be in a place like that, just as I am now.
Today a neighbor had too much stress to continue living. She set fire to her bed, in hopes of killing herself.
My neighbors, two wonderfully happy women, found the smoke pouring from her room, ran in and saved her life. She also saved us!
The ABQ FD had to enter and check 10 rooms, 5 were damaged in some way due to the fire, 5 were checked to be sure that no fire was in the walls.
Today was a good day. Out of the 50 rooms only 10 were damaged. Out of 50 family's, only one actually took the 10 minutes warning as time to gather stuff to bug out. Most people stood outside their door, gabbing and watching the drama unfold.
I think Management needs to send out a flyer on fire protocol, this is our second in one year.
