One way to protect yourself against scammers is to learn what buzzwords and technical jargon terms actually mean. Know when you're dealing with a Sam Bankman-Fried, or just a Kendall Roy.
In HBO's Succession, Kendal Roy is well known for constantly using buzzwords to cover for his lack of actual competence
Although "buzzwords" have gotten a bad rep, when used in the right context they are invaluable. They can convey very specific ideas without needing so many words - allowing for efficient technical communication. That is only in the right context though, between people well versed in their fields who don't need to be introduced to the concept. They can also very easily be abused.
Sam Bankman Fried for example used buzzwords as shibboleths, to say "I am a member of your tribe" - we let down our guard when we know we're among our own. It is also something mystics and "alternative" healers do all the time, they use scientific words in ways that make absolutely no sense, but give themselves an air of technical knowledge/competence.
When you learn what the buzzwords actually mean, you can more easily spot the red flags a scammer gives away. Someone using a buzzword or technical term in a nonsensical way doesn't necessarily mean they're a scammer, they could just be trying too hard to fit in. It should at the least though give you pause - it's something scammers do, and it might also make it clear they're not as technically competent as they are trying to present themselves.
