I am always upset when talk about this topic – cooking. I know, we don’t belong to the era when a wife sits at home to take care of the family, children and house. Cooking is an art, not some kind of women obligation or responsibility. But I am still bothered because of my cooking skill. Tell me, is there anything worse than that a boyfriend who is a pretty awesome cook but his girlfriend is who cant even cook some basic meal??? Huhu.
Honestly, this is the best spagheti I have ever eaten and absolutely made by him.
Actually, I know how to cook a little bit. But you know what my boyfriend is foreigner and that is problem. Our taste is different. That is why my poor skill is not enough to cook something fit with him. The first time I tried to cook for him, I was extremely nervous and awkward. I spent almost 2 hours to cook stew potato, fried eggs and pork. And the result were: stew potato was not stew, pork was super tough and fried eggs was only one normal, nothing special.
When seeing me upset, my boyfriend had to hug me and say: "don’t worry babe, I don’t bother about it, I love you no matter what"After the first failure, I downloaded cooking apps immediately. I found out some basic recipe and cooked for him. He started being my victim. Fortunately, He felt satisfied about my dishes. He ate a lot and finished everything. So good to see that.

My boyfriend said "when you cook, you look like a real woman". I recognize that in a relationship, when a woman cooks for a man, it shows genuine appreciation. It shows (at least from the man’s point of view) that you genuinely care for him as much as his mom.
I think cooking skill is essential in our life, no matter what gender is. Because all of us need food to survive and better is that something we eat is good food, right? We should learn to cook, just basic skill is fine. Don’t think like cooking is a female obligation and responsibility and we have to do that because we are women. This doesn’t sound fun, does it? Of course there’s nothing to enjoy about being pressured to do something. Just cook for yourself fisrt and after that for others, especially for the one we love. It will be more enjoyable.
Also, if you expect your boyfriend to open doors for you, pay for dates and hand over his jacket to you when you are feeling cold, then you shouldn’t be surprised if he asks you to cook.
After all, if you expect him to be a gentleman, you should be a lady, and take care of your man.
Under the traditional view in society, there are women tasks like cooking, doing laundry, and men tasks like fixing stuffs, killing spider and cockroach,…. That is fair, right? Hmmm, But hang on, Actually my boyfriend can not protect me from cockroach. He will leave me alone with cockroach and run away.
So, I decided, cooking is his job. Ok? Hahaa.
