How can I get many followers? How can I get a high Steem Power? When will my upvote start meaning something? How do I get many persons to view my contents? These are some of the questions I get on a daily from people I invited to Steemit. When I try to answer one, it leads to another. Social media depression is getting common around the world. Many find it difficult to fall asleep while trying to get influence on a social media. The purpose of this article is for everyone of us to evaluate ourselves, to see if you let any of these points weigh you down.
If all you think about is social media, it's not really healthy that way. There should be a line between an online life and real life. I had problems with Twitter one time, I couldn't eat without thinking about Twitter. I was really addicted, and so dependent on the network. I hated Facebook, the spam messages were all I found on my timeline all the time, I had to abandoned the account. That increased my dependence on Twitter and Instagram.
Are your thoughts entirely dependent on social media opinions?
If it is so, you could take a break. Decisions shouldn't be made based on just opinions of people you interact with on social media. Not everyone you discuss with online really have your interests in mind. Most times they only say what will favour them. What if your post doesn't get much likes, comments or upvotes as you use to have before? Do not let this weigh you down. There are always bad times, do not think much about this.
Interaction is important, this is the only way ideas could be exchanged. But what kind of interaction do you engage in? One-on-one conversations is still the good old fashioned way that still works for many. If you can no longer interact with people because of social media, you have to make some goals. Social media is a like parallel earth, if you are good in networking in the platforms that doesn't make you a good conversational starter in real life.
Do you share everything about yourself on social media?
It shouldn't be so. This could be reducing your zeal in participating in real life conversations. Trolls and bullies can also come for you online because of the contents you share. Private information should be kept private too for security reasons, not everyone on a social media is good. Social media is made up of both the bad and good.
Success in life is not determined by who you are on social media. No one gives an F* about that in life.. Oh.. maybe a few persons care. Don't compare your accounts with that of others, that can weigh you down. Maybe you see someone doing so well on a social media, you don't know how he got to where he is.. so just be patient with yourself. The focus should be your goal and how best you want to make use of of the social network.
