Imagine the following scenario: Jesus is in the desert, very hungry, walking alone after 40 days without eating, and right there, at that moment of greatest hunger, the tempter appears and proposes the following:
Jesus: If you have the power, make some bread and satisfy your hunger. But Jesus, at that moment, responds with something that seems illogical, especially given the situation at hand. He replies as follows: Man does not live by bread alone.
Why would Jesus have responded this way? Jesus was very clear that the problem wasn't bread. At this moment, Jesus wanted to teach a lesson about depending solely on the physical when, in reality, Jesus was being sustained by the spiritual world and depended on it. It's like saying that you can have a full stomach but a great emptiness in your soul. It means that you can have everything you want, your material needs met, and still feel dry, lost, and without a purpose.
Jesus responds with the same written word because there is nothing more nourishing than the word of God, that is, what God has written, and this sustains humanity. Today we live surrounded by many breads that promise to satisfy our hunger, as well as recognition, entertainment, or success, among many others. But none of these can sustain the soul when it is thirsty. When we have a spiritual emptiness, there is no plate that can satisfy. The only thing that can satisfy is a good promise from the mouth of God, and this gives us light and can satisfy our soul.
He answered and said, "It is written: 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"

Imagínate un poco el siguiente panorama: Jesús en el desierto con mucha hambre, caminando solo después de 40 días sin probar un bocado y justo ahí, en ese momento de mayor hambre se le presenta el tentador y le propone lo siguiente:
Jesús: si tenés poder hacer uso de ellos, hace pan y saciar tu hambre. Pero Jesús es en ese momento le responde con algo que parece ilógico sobre todo por la situación en cuestión y responde de la siguiente manera: no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre.
¿Por qué Jesús habrá respondido esto?, Jesucristo tenía muy claro que el problema no era el pan, Jesús en este momento quería enseñar una lección que consistía en que depender únicamente de lo físico cuando en realidad a Jesús lo estaba sosteniendo el mundo espiritual y dependía de ello. Es como decir que puedes tener el estómago lleno pero tu alma con un gran vacío, quiere decir que puedes tener todo lo que deseas, las necesidades materiales cubierta y aún así te sientes seco, perdido y sin un propósito.
Jesús responde con la misma palabra escrita porque no existe nada más nutritivo que la palabra de Dios, es decir: lo que Dios ha escrito y esto sostiene al hombre. Hoy vivimos rodeados de muchos panes que prometen saciar nuestro hambre así como el reconocimiento, el entretenimiento o el éxito entre muchos otros, pero ninguno de esto puede sostener el alma cuando está con sed, cuándo tenemos un vacío espiritual no hay plato que sacié, lo único que puede saciar es una buena promesa de la boca de Dios y eso nos da luz y puede saciar nuestra alma.
Él respondió y dijo: Escrito está: No solo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra que sale de la boca de Dios.
