I'm really bummed out right now. For the past 3 years I've been using Notepad++ and not saving what I write until I'm done, or even until it was posted. It made for less spaces taken up in the tab text with so many files open. I found it more convenient. When I close NP++, all the unsaved files are restored from a backup folder in the user roaming data.
I was writing a post for Steem and had gotten about 3-4 paragraphs done. Then after I did ctrl+z, or at least that's what I think I did like I've done many times before, there were odd characters that appeared in the footer text I have for all my posts. I tried to undo the changes, but it was only undoing my written text.
Then I tried to past over the footer text, and everything disappeared. Then the app crashed. Upon reopening, all the unsaved files were missing, and the backup folder was empty.

I've lost all my unsaved files from the past 1-2 years. I had just written stuff in 6 new files which are gone. It's such a bummer :(
But, I have to strive on as there is nothing I can do about it...
Lesson learned. From now on I will saved my files, even if it's less convenient to have the file names in the tabs. That's more convenient that losing all the unsaved files because the app crashed and erased all the unsaved files as backup files that it's supposed to have....
