If you an OG hiver and were around on Steem before the fork, you may remember the game called nextcolony. I really miss that game.

It is the only blockchain game that piqued my interest enough to play on a daily basis, and that is still the case.
When the fork happened they made the decision NOT to follow and instead let the project die. I don't remember now, but I don't think that there was any effort to opensource the game, or sell it to someone else. It just died. Now if you go to the old URL you end up on a canabis site. I don't know if its legit, so I didn't include a link.
That is something that I find frustrating about the internet, it is nearly impossible to retain that culture for the ages. In the past most creations were physical, and they could be archived. Sure, the vast majority was lost, but I would suggest that it is WAY worse today.
How often do you print your photos? If your cloud provider of choice disappeared would you lose all those cute photos of your kids?
I would love to see open source become the norm. When a project like nextcolony dies, it can be archived by data hoarders, or spun up as a community project so that people can continue to enjoy it into the future.
