There are some very important dates in the history of the United States, so many in fact, that schools don’t even teach them all in American history classes or American government classes. One of those dates just past, March 9th, and I flat missed it. So before March 9th gets too far in our rear view mirror for this year I thought I would mention it instead of waiting another.
On March 9, 1933 President Roosevelt submitted a bill, an act, to congress in a special session to deal with the national emergency facing the country, the banking crisis. This act was to provide relief for the banking crisis and for other purposes. President Roosevelt had laid out his plans earlier in Proclamation 2038, and on March 9, 1933 it was approved. If you read title 1 section one from this act, approved on March 9, 1933, you will see that congress basically said any and all actions, proclamations or orders made by the president are approved in advance. This approval essentially created a dictatorship in America, this is how we have come about to have so many executive orders being implemented over time, no need to get congressional approval, the act preapproved them.
There are several reasons the banking crisis took place but to sum it up as concisely as I can the main reason was the banks and bankers were crooks. Back in those days the money of the United States was gold and silver coin, there was paper money that represented gold and silver that was being held in the banks for each paper dollar. The law here in the US capped the gold price at $35 an ounce, but in Europe gold was selling at around $60 an ounce. The banks sold the gold into the Europe markets and screwed the American people out of their gold.
When word got out on what the banks were doing with the gold it caused a panic run on the banks. The people took their paper gold certificates and tried to turn them in at the banks for the gold and there wasn’t any. That led to President Roosevelt presenting House Joint Resolution 192, on June 5, 1933. I won’t go into that today, I’ll mark my calendar for 6/5/18 and we’ll visit it then.
There is a lot of information in the official congressional records, most of it you have never been taught in school or have ever seen mentioned in the press. If you live in the USA you really need to start reading this true history of the country, it will help you understand better things that are still taking place today, like the banks being a bunch of crooks.
Until next time,
