Hello everyone, how are u all? I Hope you all are safe and healthy in this predicament.okay,Christmas is coming may all of you are very excited about celebrations& I too so...
Today i would like to tell about a drug named called-
Racecadotril
How it acts?
Before going to know its action we need to understand what happens in our body regularly.so that its action will be understood easily.
In our body there is an opiod called endogeonous opiod known as Enkephalin. Enkephalin action is decreasing gut motility and it is metabolised by enkephalinase enzyme rapidly.thats why we won't encounter constipation.
In acute diarrhea cases, there is loss of water and electolytes from our GIT and there is increase in GI motility.so here, Racecadotril inhibits enkephalinase enzyme so that enkephalin spared i.e., it is not metabolised and its amount will be high and will do its normal action like reducing GI motility, inhibits secretion of water and electolytes.
So in this way it acts as anti diarrheal agent in acute cases of diarrhea.
So i cam say that u can use it as anti diarrheal agent if you have diarrhea.
Hope you learned something new by my post.
Thanks for reading,
Yours @summisimeon
