Butterflies are colorful insects with large triangular wings. Butterflies belong to an order or a large group of insects called Lepidoptera. The original name of the butterfly group comes from small scales that fill its wings. The word Lepidoptera comes from two Greek words lepis meaning "scales" and pteron which means "wings".
