7 years and 100s of miles later. It could use some minor repairs and paint, but still going strong.
I purchased the plans to build it from Clark Craft back in 1999. I believe the model is "Dinghy 10".
It is 10ft long, 3ft 6in wide, seaworthy, and easily propelled by oars, sail, or outboard.
Here are some photos of the build.
The method to build is called "stitch and glue"
Materials used:
3 sheets of marine grade plywood (2 sheets 1/4" and 1 sheet 3/8"
~ 1 gallon of epoxy glue
4 yards fiberglass cloth
16 yards 4" fiberglass tape
1/2 gallon primer
1/2 paint
25 ft of used firehose that was given to me
oars and oar locks.
total cost of materials ~$600
build time ~50 hrs
I love this dinghy, and it has carried me to some great places.
This dinghy has even rescued other boats.
