(11) REFOCUS ~ Find a quiet space and sit in the middle of the room comfortably in a chair. Face east or the rising sun. Still the mind, meditate by focusing on your breath. Everytime your mind wanders refocus on the breath. Empty the mind. Use a mantra if it helps you focus.
(12) AFFIRMATIONS ~ Prepare positive statements that align with your true values. Famous quotes or an inspirational video. Discover your unique gifts and find ways to engage your mind by re-affirming your goals and focusing on your sense of purpose. These are your strengths, your talents and ultimately what brings you happiness when you are fully engaged in the activities you are good at.
(13) LEARN ~ Find 15-30 minutes to read, watch video or engage in media of those who you admire and are trying to learn from in your field. You can always find the next level of proficiency. Have a few sources nearby that you can use later in the day to take mental breaks from your work.
(14) CENTER ~ Find the most suitable environment for productivity and prepare your working area making sure to eliminate anything that can distract you for at least 50 minutes. Turn off your phone, distance yourself from people who could drain your time or energy out of whatever project you decide to focus on. Visualize briefly what it is you will be focusing on. Imagine how its going to work and rehearse in your mind.
(15) THE ZONE ~ After going through these steps we should be in the optimal state to put our best selves forward and focus our energy on the highest leverage activity. Treat these steps as a flow chart and modify to suit your needs and schedule. Ask yourself what one activity if completed would give yourself the greatest return? Work on refinements in your process and don't get discouraged if you fall off track. The key is repetition and creating the habits that will give you the best chance for success.
