I did not look at the details or the code (It's been a long time since I don't look at or develop code) , but my IT experience of 80's and 90's (I am SW engineer originally) tells me that you can never make a good thing out of old code where many things have not been thought while creating it the first time. Those things will come up later, during use and will help others create a lot better code when a new SW would be developed for the same job, but the original can not be brought up to the level of the brand new. It can only be patched.
And you all know what a patched garment is like. Well in SW this case is worse. It creates other problems in the middle to long term and will lock it up sometime down the line.
Well the BCH and 2X or whatever else may come out will not fix the issues with BTC. It will stay as a prototype and will be always remembered even a hundred years later.
On the other hand people called computers "IBM" for many many years. But now that is the past.
Until mass adaption BTC will remain as the king just because of the name.
I agree that these forks, one after another maybe an attempt to screw with BTC.
On the other hand, officialdom also know that the current economical system can not go on for a long time and must be glad that some alternative is emerging.
