I'm guilty of not having much regard for the current structure of our government. The powers that be, can shove my birth certificate and social security number up their stinky poopie poop holes.
The advantage I have, is that I'm a Spartan. I'm not going to kneel down and worship the forces of darkness, just so I can survive. I was born a Spartan though. My whole life I've been training for a battle against the armies of darkness.
I went into the coast guard as a 19 year old and I excelled in basic training. As the second youngest recruit, I was physically and emotionally superior than all but 2 recruits and that was because I had been in training my whole life.
After Basic Training, I realized that I signed up for something that I didnt like. I spent 6 months at a training center, and that was an eye opening experience. The landscape was beautiful, but living within the law and structure of a government organizations was too much for me. I quickly realized that I was like a caged animal, and I have the spirt of a wolverine. I heard in a documentary that 1 wolverine covers 500 square miles of land.
After the 6 months at the training center, I was stationed on one of the high endurance cutters that the coast guard had back in the day. It was beautiful views and beautiful open water, but I had conflict with the structure of government and with a few of the coasties. A few of the enlisted men and an officer found joy in punking at younger recruits like myself. I'm 5' 5" tall and weighed about 125 pounds, so I guess I was an easy target. Little did they know, that I was far from accepting such treatment.
I can remember a fireman of my rank, continually go out of his way to come up to me, calling me names and hitting the bill of my cover or baseball cap. It was a daily event of trying to stay clear of him, knowing that eventually he would find himself in a battle of survival. It would take chains to keep me down if this continued.
One day we mustered on the fantail and within a group, this guy starts tapping the bill of my hat. I figured he must really want my hat, so maybe he'll retrieve it, if I throw it in the ocean. So I pulled my cap off my head and threw it in the big beautiful ocean, politely telling him to, "FETCH!" It raised the eyebrows of a few other enlisted, and one looked at me with a smile. I don't think many thought much of my situation, but it was coming to an end for me. If you've ever been bullied, you know the feeling.
I don't remember what set this in motion, but I remember asking the chief Emt if i could talk to him. And from there I began to work my exit from the coast guard.
The main reason I was flown off the boat was to protect my bully from my possible retaliation. I had simply notified the second in command, that they wouldn't remove him from the boat, then I would. I remember speaking plainly and clearly, that i would throw him overboard and then I would jump off the boat and swim to shore. When it comes to this sort of stuff, I have little doubt in my ability to survive. It was obvious to them that I was as serious as one can be. I hated this environmet.
What was a surprise to me is that I was the best fireman on the boat. At least that's what I was told One of the master chiefs called me, "Jack Lalanne". Only two guys used the weight room on the ship, me and the newest recruit from basic. I remember how yellow his face was when we first started our next mission. Motion sickness is a real problem for some.
So within a day i was flown off the boat on one of the coast guard choppers to Acapulco mexico, then flew into the united states where i was placed in a locked ward of a veteran's hospital. There i was diagnosed with a personality disorder. I think to myself, "you think? Ive known this for most of my life".
Within a month i was honorably discharged and was free from the bondage of government service.
The service is great for some but it's hell for others. I appreciate all who serve with honor and I thank you. I would also say that bullying is a serious problem and eventually every bully will meet his match.
