In care of is a phrasal adjective that has two meanings and we’ll learn both here. In care of can mean “Taking care of”. Its other meaning is more “common” yet often gone unnoticed. We often see on an envelope, underneath the recipient, there is another name preceded by C/O. C/O is actually the short form of “In care of.” That means the actual recipient does not live at that address, but prearranged to have their mail collected there.
