Imagine this situation you visit a web page to buy a cloths, you add them to the shopping cart, but you decide not to buy them because you will keep looking.
What happens when you visit that website again (using the same search engine)?
The page will show you ads to make you buy those cloths.
It is just an example. Advertising strategies like this may be useful in some cases, but if you do not want to buy that product or see the ad of a web page you've visited , it's likely that you find it annoying.
That type of advertising is called "souvenir ads"and Google has just launched in Chrome, its search engine, a new tool to block them.
How do reminder ads work?
Some advertisers keep lists of data with visitors to their websites.
Advertisers who use Google's advertising services provide Google with those listings so that their ads are shown to Internet users who have already visited their page.
Google is one of the many companies that uses visitor lists to display reminder ads.
