A rich man once had a servant who was very foolish. The servant was ‘ very faithful and implicitly obeyed his master So the rich man had no wish to send him away, even though he was irritated by his foolishness
one day the rich man had to go out of town on business. His old mother would be alone at home. So the rich man called his servant and told him that he had to look after his mistress. The servant promised that he would take care of her so well that not a fly would be able to disturb her. The rich man' left the next day ‘
That afternoon the rich man’s mother was sleeping in her room. The servant mindful of his master’s instructions had not left her side at all. He now sat at near the door keeping guard over her. A fly suddenly entered the room and sat on the old lady's head. SnatChing the old lady’ s walk-mg stick from behind the door, the servant quietly crept forward. Hoping to kill the fly, he raised his hand and brought it down on the old lady’s head With all his might.
Giving a piercing scream the old lady fainted. The servant thought he had killed her. He began to wail loudly ”I have killed my mistress. I have killed my mistress”. Hearing his cries the others came running to see. Soon a large crowd had gathered to in front of the rich man’s house. Someone suggested that the old lady must be burled immediately. The faithful servant duly began the preparations.
At that moment the rich man returned home earlier than expected He was surprised to see his house full of people. On seeing him the servant told him that he was just in time for the burial. The rich man rushed up to his mothers room and thankfully saw that she Was still alive but has lost consciousness. Taking the stick lying nearly he took it and chased his foolish servant out of the house shouting ”You fool! You would have buried my mother alive if I hadn’t returned. Get out of my sight.
