We have some news on @steem-bet.
Ten days ago, they announced they were going to open up a gambling platform on Steem. They said they were an experienced company with sites up on other chains such as EOS. There was also a claim that they had millions of users already.
Here is their first post on Steem.

Today, they announced that they went live. It was a delay of a couple of days from their initial estimate which is not uncommon. Their first game is a Dice Game.

Their site has a number of tabs that are not working at the moment. This is not of great concern because they could be rushing out a MVP. This is also fairly common.
Someone asked who was behind the project and they cited that it was impossible to reveal for legal reasons. This could be plausible yet does raise an eyebrow.
I do give them credit, they used a daily countdown to build momentum, a sound marketing strategy. Also, the fact that their game is online and working does add some validity.
This does not mean there are problems. Their token, SBT, is being earned by many. The challenge is there was no white paper distributed. Heck, we are not even aware of how many tokens are available. To me this is not a major problem since I earned them for resteem and promotion. However, I am pretty certain that those gaming and using STEEM would like to know how many SBT are available.
It is a basic question in the cryptocurrency realm and one that is not to outlandish to ask.
I did take a look at their Wallet and did see something encouraging. Earlier in the day, they have very little SP and only a couple thousand STEEM. Now, this is what it looks like.
They obviously are getting activity on the site. What encourages me, though, is the fact that they are powering up. This shows a commitment to the ecosystem and the Steem community. We know the powering down process is 13 weeks so they are not just earning some quick STEEM and bailing.
So what do we make of this project? There is a bit of mystery to them which is not the worst thing in the world. Nevertheless, it does not inspire total confidence either.
I guess we will have to watch what takes place over time. If they can keep updating their site while adding new games, that will be the telltale sign.
Thus far, they are communicating with the community through their daily posts.
Hopefully, it is the start of something very big for Steem.
