ShitPost Sunday Edition:
Well, after all this time it seems like we are actually getting close. I quit talking about SMTs for quite some time and stated. I'll believe when I see it.
Last week SteemIt, Inc announced the testnet was live although I've heard there are some issues and it be Monday before much testing happens.
There has been very little talk about it, but I have always liked the idea.
As we all know some of the issues with STEEM are various visions, and disagreement on what should and shouldn't get rewards. Should we reward engagement, content, casual end-users... Yes, .. there are people for every one of those ideas.
The recent Downvote Spree is another reason that I have looked forward to communities and SMTs.
Imagine those who are very interested in Quality Content being able to have their own competitive site where literally they try to set up the rules and the moderation to support exactly that. I have to admit I get kind of excited for them.
Imagine communities that can make their own rules about downvoting or not, they can choose to mute whatever they see to be bad actors, circle jerkers or whatever the pet peeves are.
It is my guess some of the first communities will be Tribes switching over, but there is no reason to believe all of the Tribes will jump over immediately.
Is this a "Game Changer"? I kind of love that phrase because it is so dramatic. In this altcoin depression I think all small wins are enough. I'm not expecting anything to suddenly send the price shooting up, but I am looking for small wins.
A little more marketing, a little less fighting, a few new accounts, a little movement in distribution.
Personally, I can't wait for a change in topics.
What do you think/hope SMTs will look like, are you thinking about launching one?
