Ten months ago I blogged about the Byteballs Airdrop, and it looks like they are at it again, but this time they are airdropping to Steem account holders like you! This is free money, people!
My attestation transaction:
I just did it myself, and it's not a scam:
Want some free Byteballs? Well they also have a nice referral program going so if you get your wallet set up through my referral, we both get a reward. Cool, huh?
If you already have the byteball app installed, follow this link, otherwise use this referral link to download it: https://steem-byteball.org/#LHJX6HCBZQD53DTGIBWUNWR3ZOAICQFT
If you want the full reward, you have to send 0.00006 GB, otherwise you can just sign a message (though you'll only get 80% of the reward):
Alternatively, you can prove ownership of your address by signing a message: [Request to sign message: lukestokes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx], in this case your attestation reward (if any) will be 80% of the normal reward.
To get the full reward, you can ask people like me for 0.0006 GB (but please, only do so if you haven't already attested your account):
Ask a fellow Steemian who already successfully completed the attestation, if you can borrow 0.0006 GB (Gigabytes) and have him send it to your wallet. As the user sending you the funds will receive the referral reward, it shouldn’t be hard to find willing donors.
So is this worth it?
I'd say yes! Byteball is a really interesting directed acyclic graph (DAG) cryptocurrency you should know about. As I said, I've been following it for some time (see my post from 10 months ago to learn more). The full instructions for how to get this airdrop (with screenshots!) are in the post I linked to above: Official Byteball Airdrop to Steemians.
Yes, Byteballs were worth a bit more 10 months ago with a coinmarketcap rank of 40:
And now they are down to 108:
But innovative airdrops like this may give them some new life. Maybe this chart has some room to go back up:
It's also possible people will get their free Byteballs and cash out as quick as they can which could bring the price down. As always, you can hit the markets tab on CMC to see where they trade:
Personally (as I did with the airdrop), I'm going to hold. I like to own some tokens from innovative projects like this which challenge the current blockchain paradigm (a DAG is not a blockchain) while also making cryptocurrency as easy to use as interacting with a chat bot.
If you need help to get started, leave a comment below, and I'll help you out if I can.
Edit: Looks like the referrals work also. Cool!
