After running out of extracts before payday came around, @MediKatie and I whipped up a batch of dabs from our rig tailings today. Not as delicious, but it holds off the symptoms, and it's free!

Here's a shot of the isopropyl alcohol solvent with cannabinoids (from rig tailings), in a glass dish on med/low:

With proper ventilation and no open flames, I simmer off the iso:

I turn the heat to low, and add a couple drops of water, as the last of the iso boils off:

Pop it in the oven
.. at 220oF for fifteen minutes, just to be sure there's no solvent remaining, but without cooking off the cannabinoids:

What's left is about 60% THC, 20% CBD, 10% CBN, and 10% other 'noids. There's not a lot of terpenes left as most of them are volatile (evaporate off at lower temps). The cannabinoids are all in their activated (decarboxylated) form, not the acidic form like THCa, which is found on fresh buds.

A silicone spatula is best for scooping up the dark auburn oil as it cools:

From there, it can be syringed into capsules, baked into edibles, or poured out onto a mat for dabbing:

We ended up with a few grams of oil, which will keep us going over the weekend and into next week, when we'll be able to pick up some proper fire once again:

Have a safe, healthy, harmonious weekend! If you're on the North half of the planet, stay warm!
