Ahhh, Blue Monday - it's been labelled as typically the most difficult day of the year - or so we are told. Heck, there's even a song called Blue Monday (a classic)
Now yesterday was Blue Monday, and for me it was so cold, that it raised a different type of difficult. Ben and I were finishing up with our review of the Skoda Enyaq, which is their all new electric SUV.
(This was taken at lunchtime, and car is still frozen on top)
For a beautiful, bright and sunny day, it was also very cold. Okay, I'm not talking Siberian Pole of Cold, but when you take into consideration the wind chill, and it was bitingly cold...brrr 😰
The thing is with CRPS, extreme temperatures can affect it, and for me, the cold is very difficult for me to cope with. On top of that, wind chill is my Kryptonite. I have massive problems with this, which is why - even in Summer - my go-to is long trousers and long sleeved tops (After careful consideration for the material, weight and softness of what I'm wearing)
By the time we had finished filming, the pain in my ankle had gone past flare up and into the realm of gut churning agony. It's laughable to call it a flare up, but this is how it is categorised when you are being taught how to live with CRPS. You are taught that at times, you will experience a flare up, where your symptoms and your pain increases significantly. The thing is, this doesn't even come close to the reality of what you actually do experience.
Now, not only has my ankle swollen up, and stayed up, the significant pain spike has spread upwards, and is not being touched by the meds. Luckily, this hasn't happened to me in a long time, but this doesn't make it any easier to cope with...Truth be told, the added extra stress Ben and I have been dealing with is probably the reason why it's affecting me so much. As we all know, stress causes a myriad of negative issues on all aspects of your health, so this sucks!
Time to get some rest methinks...
