En una expedición que realice hace aproximadamente dos meses al Páramo "Las Hermosas" ubicado en la Cordillera Central de los Andes (Colombia), un grupo de expedicionarios y yo tuvimos la gran oportunidad de avistar unas hermosas Dantas que caminaban por un sendero campesino en la parte baja del Páramo.

Fue una oportunidad magnifica el poder ver esta inofensiva criatura, allí tranquila en su habitad, alimentándose de la vegetación y nosotros tan solo de paso por el Páramo, se quedaron mirándonos fijamente un rato y luego se marcharon, que bien pasar por allí en el momento exacto. Debido a la presencia del ser humano el hogar de las Dantas se ha ido reduciendo, hace unos años eran cazadas indiscriminadamente llevando la a estar en vía de extinción, el día de hoy esta prohibida su caza, espero que tomemos conciencia y no sumemos esta linda especie en la lista de Animales Extintos.
