A HIVE community for posts and discussions about a quantum-resistant future for the HIVE blockchain.
This community was created out of concern for the future of the HIVE blockchain. Like most blockchains, HIVE currently relies on ECDSA signatures and keys. Unlike many blockchains, HIVE works with accounts that are linked to re-used signing keys, to such an extent that next to signatures, the presence of public keys on the blockchain is an actual requirement at this moment.
There are partial solutions for the problem, such as XMSS, as demonstrated by the QRL blockchain, but these might not be an easy fit for HIVE at this moment.
As things look now, lack of Quantum Resistance seems likely to become a problem in about four to eight year (2025..2029), so there is still time to fix it. The time to start working on a roadmap though, is now!
