The story of Joseph the Dreamer is one good example of God's Divine Purpose for us. He was just a kid envied by his brothers because of his father's favor. He was betrayed and became a slave. He was imprisoned. Yet he was chosen by God to become the leader of Egypt.
Ephesians 1:4-6 New International Version (NIV) 4 For he chose us in
him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his
sight. In love 5 he[a] predestined us for adoption to sonship[b]
through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to
the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the
One he loves.
We are all part of God's plan. What happened to Joseph's life is part of His great plan. He allowed everything to happen to demonstrate His power and that His name will be proclaimed throughout earth. So that we can see His power working in us.

Jesus showed His great way of salvation. And it's not all about us why we are saved. But rather, it is about God's divine will, purpose and love to us. We need to hold fast for that salvation because our enemy wants to destroy that crown we have now. There's nothing we did for having that crown of salvation. It is all of God.

In John 1:12 the only thing we can do is believe that you are a child of God . That's the time we become partakers of God's kingdom.
