It came to pass that in the process of time the Israelites and the philistines were at war, just like many of us face today, our wars are conflicts against circumstances and issues of life and we find it difficult to actually confront squarely these issues just like Israel.
The size (our philistine) of the issue might not even be our challenge but just one particular factor which biblical denotes Goliath. And, if and only if you can face that singular factor squarely your war will be over.
If you’re in a seemingly hopeless situation where there appears to be no way out, instead of wasting time and energy dwelling on your weaknesses and short comings which is a sign you’re putting trust in your strength begin to focus on God’s power, ….for by strength shall no man prevail …. 1 Sam 2:9 .
Saul put his trust on his own skills and abilities but he knew it was no use at that time when the push comes to shove. Goliath was way greater than what Saul had, just as the case with many of us today.
When David showed up Saul was selling to him things he Saul couldn’t even use for battle. However, against Saul’s better judgment David relied on that which the Lord God had given to him which by reason of use has proven him. And this was the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, David had this poise, boldness and supernatural exposure and this made the difference.
Look for David if you are not the David concerning that issue. Just believe God.
