This morning, as I started my vacation poking around Steemit I came across an interesting post that was directed by one Christian towards another. It was regarding the idea that Jesus fulfilled the laws of the Father.
First, I will say that Jesus himself was very clear on whether He abolished the law. In Matthew 5:17-18 He says:
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
So the question shifts to an important one to ask. Was all fulfilled already? I look around me and with the evil I see, in no way can I answer that all has been fulfilled yet. Can anyone argue that the prophecies have all been fulfilled? Argue that the battle, or whatever is taking place here that God set in motion has been completed?
We are about to enter an uncomfortable area now, one that will be sure to anger some within the Christian community. This is the premise that Christs message has been hijacked by the dark to mislead many. It is my conviction that this is not only the case, but was done so very quickly in an attempt by the evil ones to try and trick us from the Grace of Christ. Now on to the purpose of this post.
Jesus Is Not The Goal, He Is The Way To The Goal
I was fairly young when I noticed the tendency of most Christians to focus almost exclusively on Jesus, and not the Father. Jesus actually predicted this in Matthew 7:21-23.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Notice He says directly, doing the will of the Father? That was a constant theme from Jesus. Not His Will, but the will of the Father. We can see this in many places such as:
John 4:34 "Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of Him (the Father)that sent me, and to finish His work."
John 6:38 "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me."
John 8:25-28
25 "Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but He that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of Him.
27They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”
Matthew 12:48-50
"48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."
I could list so many more scriptures, but these are sufficient to show Jesus was here to lead us to the Father, not to replace the Father.
The purpose of the post is in no way meant to divert gratitude away from Jesus for His sacrifice. It is to draw attention to my brothers and sisters to the fact that many churches divert all the attention to Jesus and away from the Father. Exactly the opposite of the message Jesus gave to us. Jesus is the way solely because he does the will of the Father. He is not the savior because we can do whatever we want and then plead forgiveness as an afterthought. He is not the savior because His will is greater than the Father who sent Him. He is not the savior because He abolished the Law and now we are free to do and act however we want. The sabbath is still the sabbath, Gods law is still the law until everything is fulfilled. This goes without saying for those who think they are forgiven by pleading to Mary, mother of Jesus.
There have been many perversions of thought placed upon His gift, His sacrifice and I ask that you pray on this for an epiphany if you have fallen into these traps set to take the focus from the Father. The sacrifice of Jesus should be a gift that helps us all understand and focus on the will of the Father. That was the sole intent of Jesus, as He stated many times. I will leave you with this on Jesus and the laws.
Matthew 5:19 "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
