so i have a cardboard-style vr headset. been buzy trying to figure out how to stream my linux (ubuntu) desktop to my phone for a vr desktop but no luck so far...
i was looking at simula vr and it works with steamVR compatable headsets. there is also xrdesktop.
i was using a clone of trinus called linuxTrinus and had steamVR installed, and can connect to the linuxtrinus client but no video because i have to compile a openVR driver for steamVR for it to work on linux.
looked at iVRy but thats windows only
so i was hunting for other software but atm i cant find anything that works.
part of problem is that phone screen resolution is pretty limited so the image quality will be poor.
i was thinking the other day, i wonder if using a vr headset and programming in vr would help with reducing distractions. once i get into a flow i am pretty good about staying on task, as long as i dont listen to youtube, discord, or look at my phone. i find music is an asset, but if im listening to people talk, especially about technical stuff i will get distracted.
i went from 5 monitors on my main pc down to 2 so that i can eliminate distractions, figured if i spend most of my time on this pc programming and concequently keeping discord minimized to prevent myself getting distracted by it, than i dont really need a discord monitor either.
something to note is that ive never tried vr before so idk if i will like it or not. i could maybe buy a vr headset but i dont want to blow the money on it
not planning to sink a lot of money into anything atm, and i 95% of the time im booted into ubuntu for coding
