If you are into coffee ... a cool small coffee cafe to check out is Kona Coffee Cafe.
All of their coffee is locally grown, and 100% Kona Coffee.
So that infamous label of 100% Kona Coffee ... can ONLY be given to those who can prove that they've grown their coffee beans within Kona district area. It remains to be seen, as some Big Island coffee growers actually are in other areas of the island, including Ka'u district, etc.
Many times, visitors will go into a souvenir shop, and see coffee bags for around $3.99 for Kona coffee ... but fail to see that there's only 10% Kona coffee, and the rest is some kind of arabica coffee bean mix. Why bother buying that then ... it's not even made and grown so, if you come to Big Island, I encourage you to buy 100% Kona coffee brand, yes a bit more expensive anywhere from $8.99 to $15.99 .. but it's worth it.
Below are photos of the Kona Coffee Cafe establishment:
The owner is quite friendly, and will give you small sample sizes of each coffee for you to try and taste.
