Three years ago while in Vancouver on vacation and in search of coffee to jump start my day, I walked into Revolver. It was here I was introduced to the cold brew, a bit of a mini life altering event for me. I wasn't a coffee snob then and I'm sure as hell not some sort of coffee savant now, but I do know I like coffee and that I fell in love with cold brew coffee that day.
Anyhow, I'll keep this series simple. Every time I have a chance to try a new cold brew, I'll make a post about it. I'll usually be drinking something without sweetener and I'm lactose intolerant, so it's got to be milk free. I'll make exceptions depending on what I can get my hands on and where I'll be for the day. I'm not going to get all super technical and grade the coffee's, but I'll give you my opinion on each.
So for day #1, Califia Nitro Cold Brew. This is their New Orleans style iced coffee, nitro-infused and remixed with chicory and almond milk.
It's a bit thick and chalky... sort of has the texture of a protein shake (okay, I might be a bit dramatic here). It's not bad at all though, especially if you're used to the taste and consistency of Califia's almond milk. I'll probably pass on it again as I prefer drinks without sweeteners and that are a lot darker than this.
