This picture shows the balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorus). It belongs to the family of campanula (Campanulaceae). This plant reaches stature heights of 50 to 70 cm. The home of the balloon flower is located in Northeast Asia in China, eastern Siberia, Mongolia, Korea and Japan. In some areas this species is wild. Preferred locations are dry grasslands and stony soils between shrubbery or on forest clearings. Flowering time is from July to August.
