Indigo is the color which appears between blue and violet in a rainbow. Purple grapes and blueberries, deep blue of dark denim, blue jeans are indigo. It symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery and spiritual realization. The indigo dye could be made from the indigo plant, which produced the best results, and from the woad plant. It was actually a plant that got its name because it came from the Indus Valley Civilization, discovered some 5,000 years ago, where it was called nila, meaning dark blue.
