Daredevil #81 was published in 2006. Brian Michael Bendis was saying goodbye to the loyal Daredevil fans through the letters page as his amazing run of Daredevil stories was coming to an end. And what amazing stories they were. He couldn't say enough nice things about the coloring and artistry of Dave Stewart and Alex Maleev, respectively.
Wilson Fisk, who was already in custody, strikes a deal with the FBI. Fisk is prepared to turn over evidence that will out Matt Murdock as Daredevil. Franklin Nelson is very frustrated with Murdock as he tries to defend him against his vigilante crimes as a superhero. Reed Richards being in the courtroom doesn't appear to help the situation, as the judge considers Murdock a high flight risk! This is where it gets confusing and crazy at the same time as Murdock apologizes to Nelson and then fights his way out of the courthouse.
With the assistance of Natasha, Murdoch is brought to Milla, as they both end up with new identities. While in Paris, Bullseye kills Milla which in turn makes an enraged Murdock kill Bullseye. Feeling very lost, a year later Murdock reconnects with Elektra in Japan, where they rekindle their romance. Pleading not guilty as we end up back in the courtroom, Murdock is denied bail and sent to prison awaiting trial with special accommodations. Meanwhile, Fisk is sent back to prison on a separate charge. The Fisk and Murdock relationship is definitely a chess game.
