Zac Thompson, writer for "Devil's Reign: Superior Four" #2, has taken the whole multi-verse concept to an entirely new level. With the aid of Davide Tinto (artist), Matt Milla (color artist) and VC's Ariana Maher, they collectively present us with an issue that is loaded with different versions of Otto Octavius, otherwise known as Doctor Octopus. The variant cover shown above was brilliantly drawn by Superlog. It kind of reminds me of those cartoon drawings from the old punk rock fanzines.
The "Devil's Reign" that appears in the title of this book should indicate to comic fans of Daredevil that no matter which direction the story goes, Wilson Fisk is somehow behind the chaos. The headquarters of the Fantastic Four is currently being occupied by Doctor Octopus, while the current state of the Fantastic Four can only be described as chaotic. The good (said sarcastically) doctor has gathered various versions of himself from other universes and timeframes.
While there was supposedly a Spider-Man version of himself, this issue shows us a Ghost-Rider, Hulk and Wolverine version of Otto. Trying to get these egos to work together is nearly impossible, that is until a Superior Doctor appears. This Doctor Doom-looking formation claims to have been a doctor and dabbles in the mystical arts, not unlike Dr. Strange. This superior Octavius claims to be tasked with the difficult job of keeping all the other Ottos in line. By the way in case you're wondering, Merriam-Webster claims that the use of "octopi" as the plural form of octopus is wrong! Either way, if you are not familiar with the whole multi-verse concept, this issue could confuse you. It's almost like when you are experiencing internal conflicts, with the exception being that the other "you" is standing beside you.
