I love hot chocolate when the weather is cold. I don't drink it often, which makes it feel special. I'm finicky though. I don't like it thin.
I bought a can of the Cadbury brand off of Amazon back when I ordered those not-so-great Godiva chocolates. ☠️ ha ha
So this morning I began to work across the room here and before first break I decided that maybe it was time to try my new hot chocolate mix. I made a mental plan to make a cup on my first break.
I put on a pot of water to boil and took my can out, gave it a quick photo shoot, grabbed a cup and read the directions.
When I took the outer lid off, there was this nice gold seal with a tab to use to pull the seal off with.
Neat... right ? No pealing, splitting seal. It came off in one good pull without leaving any edges stuck to the can. You know what I'm talking about ....
But..... when it did come off a puff of chocolate powder poofed out ! "POOFYPUFF!!" Sheesh, I have a mess already and I haven't even got started good yet. 😏
The instructions said put three heaping teaspoons in to 200 ml of skimmed milk. What???
Two things, teaspoons are different sizes, I have two kinds in the everyday use drawer all the time and they aren't the same size and......
How heaping?? A mountain or a mole hill heaping ?? LOL.....I just made myself laugh !
I tried to keep it between the two.
Not only that, I had to google how much 200 ml was in ounces. Turns out it is about 6.7 ounces. You know, that is not much and I don't think I ever drink anything that is only 6 or so ounces unless it is the rare small glass of fruit juice.
Three heaping spoons of chocolate powder sounded like too much for such a little bit of liquid, but since my cup held more than that, I added one extra mole hill size spoonful thinking if it was too weak I could add more.
(Oh... and of course now I see why the 200 ml.)
About the time I was ready and waiting and also near the end of my 15 minute break, I realized, doofus me had put on water to boil instead of milk, but there was no time to change ! Drats ! I decided to go ahead and mix it up and I grabbed some heavy cream to add to it, hoping it would rescue my faux pas. I stirred it good and headed back to my work desk. I took the first sip and found it was VERY chocolatey. That's a good sign, but it was also VERY sweet. As I worked I would take another sip now and then, but before too long, it simply became too sickenly sweet.
Now you know I've confessed to being a sugar addict and I am, so if I think it is TOO sweet, you can bet your buttons it is ! I didn't even drink half of it. At lunch I poured milk in it to dilute it and just had the rest of the cup as cool chocolate milk...ha ha
Because I didn't use milk and there was definitely too much chocolate powder mix, I can't even give a correct review on it. I'll have to try it again with milk like it is supposed to be and use less mix. Somehow though, now that it is evening time, it doesn't sound good to me at all. I guess that will have to be later.
It does have a good chocolatey flavor though, I can tell you that and it is NOT a weakling ! I think done right, it will be an nice treat on the next too-cool evening.
