The death toll of the recent mudslide in northeastern Congo is now estimated to be at above 200 casualties.
The mudslide was caused by the consecutive days of heavy rain wherein the neighboring mountains collapsed causing a landslide in the nearby village. Rescuers have raised difficulties in finding the remaining bodies since they don't have the capacity and equipment to carry large rocks away from the site. Hence, rate of survival is very minimal as time passes.
Eastern Congo has been suffering a lot of earthquakes since the area lied beneath a seismic fault line. Also, an expected 400 people were assumed dead and 600 are still missing after a similar tragedy in Sierra Leone.
Let's all pray for the people of Congo and Sierra Leone and hope that there are still remaining survivors that can be rescued.
