There is a conspiracy theory circulating about a secret group who is willingly promoting policies to make humanity as a whole dumber for some nefarious reason. Usually it involves control over dumb cattle and stuff like that.

I'm starting to give credit to that as it seems to be the case in most proposals aiming on equity(equal outcome) instead of equality(equal starting conditions).

Regarding control, it came to my mind this week a weird idea. It seems to be easier to keep a secret buried under bullshit than buried under secrecy. If you hide a secret, there is a chance of someone finding out and use the protectiveness of that information as an argument for its validity. But if you leave the secret wide open among several dumb and out-of-reality narratives clearly fake. there is less chance of someone taking it serious even though the information is widely available. The ones who take it serious might be accused of conspiracy beliefs and ridiculed for taking that information serious. An analogy to how the whole Epstein case was handled back in 2019.
