FDA approves boosters for Moderna and J&J.

FDA as expected approves Moderna and J&J boosters and heterologous boosters.

Moderna's booster guidance is the same as Pfizer's booster. Six months after your second dose an adult can get a booster if they are:

1. 65+
2. 18-64 at risk of severe COVID.
3. 18-64 at high risk of exposure.

In all cases it is by self-attestation, so it shouldn't be difficult for people who feel they fit 2) or 3) to get a booster. The CDC says about 60% of adults 18-64 are eligible according to this criteria.

J&J's booster guidance (really more like a completion of a primary series rather than a booster) is for ALL adults 2 months after the first dose.

Also note Moderna's booster is half dose. The company saw a strong immune response with a half dose booster with lower immunogenicity.

ACIP is meeting tomorrow to discuss all three. Following the ACIP meeting Walensky will set final guidance. So don't make appointments just yet.
