Where has time gone?
above, on the right, a sketchie of the monster of productivity
I have been quiet around here for a while, aside from some commenting here and there.
I could say that overthinking has been one of the reasons for my lack of posting and, possibly, overfeeling too
but, in all honesty, that is only part of the story.
I have spent a couple of days distracted by bureaucracy.
Then a couple of days preparing for the apocalypse...
Just kidding, but I guess many people out there are doing exactly this, if they weren't already, as the world seems to be on fire, once again.
I spent 3 days helping my sister out on her land, where she is/ they are building an attachment ( bathroom ) to the side of her house.
She was kind enough to pay me for my help, as I have no income ( aside from crypto and the occasional book sale ) and this took 3 days of my time.
When they are done with this job, or at least with finishing the exterior and making it waterproof ( today, as much as possible, hopefully, as a serious rain front/ weather change is approaching ), her boyfriend and her will prepare for their two week holiday, without kids. They will drive cross country with the orange Mercedes camper van that you see in the background and I will be spending two weeks taking care of their land, their house and my niece and nephew.
My nephew is the cute little man on the picture, always willing to help out. Here he is doing a little bit of sanding, before I took over the sweaty work ( although I mainly treated dozens of planks with anti woodworm/ wood beetle stuff and, on later days, with two layers of waterproof varnish, more poisonous crap ).
Midway through day 2, I had to take a break, and I made sure my niece and nephew and I enjoyed a refreshing swim at the bottom of their land, in the river. In between their two swimming stints, they also built a tiny, towel-covered improv treehouse, over me, in the sand.
Here you see them having fun on an old surfboard.
And here is the monster of blame, making us feel guilty ( that will probably also feature in my The Monster of Disco book.
I could now add a long rant about why I didn't really feel like sharing the creative process, as of late, but let's not do that today.
Instead you might want to give this podcast by @clareartista a listen The Art of Life, as that answers part of the question.
Oh and it also was my birthday, 3 days ago, and I have been spending some time with my good friend @vindiesel1980 on 3 separate days, adding to the distraction in a positive way.
Let's end today's random write up with a picture of the view, this morning, on my post coffee/ breakfast walk.
Plenty of rain is approaching and nature will only get greener, very soon.
Enjoy your day and try not to check the news.
Much love!
