Last year this time we were almost all packed and ready to fly to SA for 2 months. Little did we know when we came back in February of this year that that would be the last bit of traveling we'd be doing for the foreseeable future.
Who knew that in less than 7 weeks from being back on the island we'd be in lockdown for 3 months. 8 days of that a hard lockdown during which we weren't even allowed to go out to buy food or anything.
Lockdown has now been over for 7 months. The island has been covid19 free for 7 months barring some isolated cases in quarantine. However, borders are still closed for all intents and purposes. We're still wearing masks when going out. We still have our temperatures taken everywhere we go.
Travel for fun and leisure is not a possibility. Tourism has ground to a halt. Repatriation is priority. Families are split up. One cannot plan ahead. Uncertainty is at the forefront of the day.
I'm guilt-ridden but grateful for the fact that our small family is together. My heart goes out to my friends and acquaintances that have no idea when they will be seeing their children, parents, partners or extended family members.
This year has certainly been one for the books. One that might just go down as the worst year ever for many of us. 😔
- Is it over yet?
As my 2019 and before memories come up on FB I have to reminisce on this year past. I don't know what normal is anymore but I'm sure it's not this way of life. ❤️
On that note. God bless. Be safe and sleep tight everyone. ❤️
