When you are a beginner in any area of life, it is essential to listen to those who have already traveled the path. They were once where we are today, and their advice can make all the difference in continuing to grow.

A few weeks ago, I shared my first sports photography photos, and @holoz0r kindly left me some recommendations that I deeply appreciate. As a beginner, I can only thank him for his time and guidance.

He talked to me about composition and how, in sports photography, something very similar to what happened with Renaissance paintings occurs: composition is the central axis of everything. Thanks to his words, I understood that it's not just about capturing who has the ball, but about conveying the emotion of that moment. If I wanted to improve, I had to stop looking for the “perfect” photo and start capturing moments that conveyed beauty, harmony, and grandeur.

Since then, my goal has changed. Now I'm not just looking for the sharp image, but the emotions that arise during a soccer game. And the funny thing is that in youth soccer, these emotions seem to be experienced even more intensely. On this occasion, I decided to move away from wider shots to compositions focused on the players, their gestures, and expressions, leaving what is happening around them in the background.

Él me hablaba sobre la composición y cómo, en la fotografía deportiva, ocurre algo muy parecido a lo que pasaba con las pinturas renacentistas: la composición es el eje central de todo. Gracias a sus palabras entendí que no se trata solo de capturar quién tiene el balón, sino de transmitir la emoción de ese instante. Si quería mejorar, debía dejar de buscar la foto “perfecta” y empezar a capturar momentos que transmitieran belleza, armonía y grandeza.

Desde entonces mi objetivo ha cambiado. Ahora no busco únicamente la imagen nítida, sino las emociones que nacen dentro de un partido de fútbol. Y lo curioso es que en el fútbol juvenil estas emociones parecen vivirse aún con más intensidad. En esta ocasión decidí pasar de tomas más amplias a composiciones centradas en los jugadores, en sus gestos y expresiones, dejando en segundo plano lo que sucede alrededor.

In the photos I'm sharing today, I could clearly see two emotions: absolute concentration on every play, that silent calculation of the next move or the right pass, and the overflowing joy after a goal, which doesn't just stay with the player but is shared with the team and the crowd, especially with their parents celebrating from the stands.

I know I still have a lot to learn. My camera doesn't offer me much freedom: sometimes the photos are blurry, I can't play with the shutter speed or shoot in burst mode. Even so, I do my best to ensure that each image captures a unique moment and is able to convey a little of what I feel behind the lens.

En las fotos que hoy comparto pude ver claramente dos emociones: la concentración absoluta en cada jugada, ese cálculo silencioso sobre el próximo movimiento o el pase correcto, y la alegría desbordada después de un gol, que no solo se queda en el jugador sino que se comparte con el equipo y con el público, especialmente con sus padres que celebran desde las gradas.

Sé que aún tengo mucho por aprender. Mi cámara no me ofrece grandes libertades: a veces las fotos quedan movidas, no puedo jugar con la velocidad del obturador ni disparar en ráfaga. Aun así, pongo todo de mi parte para que cada imagen guarde un instante único y sea capaz de transmitir un poco de lo que yo siento detrás de la lente.
